Setback For IAS Officers In High Court

The reallocation of IAS officers in Telugu states is continuing like a saga. It is already known that after facing disappointment in the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), IAS officers filed a lunch motion petition in the Telangana High Court.

The IAS officers who filed a petition in the High Court are Amrapali Kata, Ronald Rose, Vakati Karuna, Vani Prasad, Srujana, Shiva Shankar, and Hari Kiran.

During the hearing, the IAS officers’ lawyer said that their petition is due for hearing on November 4 in the tribunal and requested the court not to relieve these IAS officers from their current postings until then. He said that a request has been made to the Departments of Personnel and Training (DOPT) of both states to extend the relieving period by 15 days.

Upon hearing the petition, the High Court opined that the case would not be solved if stay orders were granted. It stated that the issue would be resolved and asked the officers to join their postings soon.

“You are all responsible officials. You should not trouble the public by not joining the service. The central government will decide who will work where. If needed, we would ask DOPT to reexamine its report,” said the magistrate.

On October 9, the central government reallocated the cadre of a few IAS officers in Telugu states, stating that officers assigned to a state under the cadre division must report to that state.
