A recent video has been circulating around social media where a US vlogger named Chris shares his experience in Kusumpur Pahari, one of New Delhi’s poorest slums. In the video, Chris interacts with the locals to demonstrate the hardships and struggles faced by them.
Chris is seen particularly shocked and overwhelmed with the kindness being bestowed upon him by people who have to survive each day even for basic amenities such as water. The magical moment came when he was invited by a family into their home, and their hospitality left him in tears.

People on social media were quick to express their gratitude towards Chris for showing them the suffering and hardships of marginalised people at a place most would try and avoid.
One user wrote, “I would never visit places like this, but I’m grateful to experience it through these videos!”, while another thanked him for showing how generous the poorest can be.

Chris’ vlog highlights the wide economic disparity faced by our people even in the National Capital Region. The conditions of Kusumpur Pahari seem pathetic, considering its closeness to Vasant Vihar, one of Delhi’s posh areas.
Despite barely having anything for themselves, the locals accepted Chris as one of their own, welcoming him with open arms, hence proving that showing kindness and empathy towards one another does not require a person to have deep pockets!
