Over the years, the twin Telugu states had been struggling to deliver cricket superstars. There was Mohammed Azharuddin who was a gem of a player and that is about it.

The likes of Ambati Rayudu, Hanuma Vihari and KS Bharat got fame at variable passages of their careers but the graphs haven’t been consistent. Rayudu is the brightest of the lot but his histrionics got confined to IPL and not in the national team.
But after a long wait, the Telugu land finally appears to be on course to deliver a superstar of its own in the game of cricket and he is Nitish Kumar Reddy.

Nitish Reddy shot to fame with SRH in IPL and he was quickly drafted into the national team. After a stutter or two earlier, he has exploded on the big stage.
In last night’s game against Bangladesh, Nitish was the point of difference between the two teams as he smashed a rocking 74 with the bat and later picked up two wickets.

This kid looks firm with his game, has a good temperament, and hails from the Telugu land.
If Nitish Reddy can keep up this momentum in his game, he could well be the next superstar in cricket and thus quench the thirst of Telugu fans to have a superstar cricketer of their own. But there is still a long way to go on this front though.
