The love story of Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan is known to everyone who has followed Bollywood over the years. Notably, the latter recently celebrated her 54th birthday and while the interfaith marriage has created various debates over the years, Gauri decided to address the same in an interview.
Gauri disclosed a lot of things that remain unknown to the general public. She revealed that her parents were initially not ready to get her married to King Khan.

To make things easier, Shah Rukh’s name was also changed to Abhinav which as per Gauri, was a “silly and childish” decision. Situations became a little bit different when the duo tied the knot since Gauri’s family was concerned that she might be told to convert.
King Khan had previously told Farida Jalal that he heard Gauri’s family members discussing the conversion and he jokingly responded by telling his wife to put on a burkha and read the namaaz. Shah Rukh also teased the family by saying that Gauri’s name would be changed to Ayesha.

Gauri had once addressed the topic when she appeared on Koffee With Karan, saying that although she respects her husband’s religion, she would never convert. She added that even Shah Rukh would not do the same.
On the other hand, Shah Rukh once said in a conversation that when his children ask him about the religion they belong to, he tells them that their religion is humanity. Gauri also stated on another occasion that they celebrate every festival at their residence.
