Devin White posts cryptic messages to social media amid sudden Philadelphia Eagles exit

The Devin White experiment for the Philadelphia Eagles has ended much sooner than any fan of the team may have anticipated.

White, a former All-Pro linebacker and Super Bowl LV champion with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was cut from the Eagles on Tuesday.

He signed with Philadelphia in the offseason but did not play a single snap for the team through five weeks of action.

Amidst the growing tension between White and the team, the linebacker posted a pair of cryptic quotes to his Twitter account – one on Monday and one hours before he got cut Tuesday.

The first read, in part, ‘Your story is still being written, and the best chapters are yet to come… Believe that the future holds boundless possibilities, and you have the power to shape it into something truly extraordinary.’

The second was much more apt for the events of the day: ‘Every day is a new beginning, a fresh start to create the life you have always imagined. Let go of past mistakes and focus on the possibilities of today.

‘You have the power to shape your destiny with every choice you make. Trust that each new day brings with it the opportunity to start over and make remarkable progress.’

White inked his deal with the Eagles this past offseason – signing a one-year, $4m contract – with $3.5m guaranteed.

But he started the season injured and the linebacker seemed to make it worse for himself through his interactions with the press and his actions on social media.

After the season’s second week, White was asked by reporters about coach Nick Sirianni’s comments saying that he has a role in the team.

When asked if he was told what role he had, White said, ‘You’re going to have to get it from [Sirianni]’.

Two weeks later, against his former team in Tampa Bay, White appeared to ruffle feathers when he retweeted a video of a forced fumble against his own team.

That was quickly deleted, with White saying he only meant to click like on the post.

The starting job that White was competing for was taken by third-year player Nakobe Dean.

Of course, White’s tenure in Tampa Bay wasn’t all sunshine and rainbow either.

In the fifth and final year of his contract, White was demoted in favor of KJ Britt- with his defensive snap count down significantly.

White later admitted that playing for a contract extension was hurting his concentration and affecting his on-field play.
