Sports broadcast Bob Costas appeared to suffer a hot mic blunder during Game 2 of the American League Division Series on TBS Monday.
The legendary announcer was calling the second game between the New York Yankees and Kansas City Royals in the Bronx when he seemingly got caught on a hot mic expressing reservations about reading an advert for CNN.
As Angel Zerpa stood on the mound waiting to deliver a pitch, Costas appeared to be told he had a promo coming up.
‘A CNN promo?’ Costas asked, seemingly unaware that he could be heard on the air. After brief pause, he added, ‘That puts me in a difficult spot.’
However, why the advert would be an issue for Costas was a mystery with a CNN promo not necessarily out of the ordinary on TBS.

Costas has had a relationship with CNN since 2020 when he joined the news network as a contributor.
TBS, who was airing the game, and CNN are also both owned by Warner Bros. Discovery.
The Royals went on to win the game 4-2 at Yankee Stadium, leveling the series 1-1 ahead of heading back to Kansas City.
Salvador Perez homered leading off the fourth inning to spark a four-run rally against Carlos Rodon.
Game 3 in the best-of-five playoff is Wednesday night at Kansas City, the Royals’ first postseason home game since the 2015 World Series.
Earlier this year, Costas made headlines when he slammed Democrats over their handling of President Joe Biden on CNN, accusing the party of ‘gaslighting’ the American public.
The NBC Sports legend claimed it has been ‘obvious’ for years that the 81-year-old President is in decline.
Biden is under mounting pressure to pull out of this year’s election following his ‘atrocious’ showing in the first debate against Donald Trump .
Costas insists the President ‘must be ushered out,’ insisting: ‘We can no longer indulge (his) delusions.’
The legendary anchor also hit out at senior Democrats for not coming clean about Biden’s capabilities – and even acting surprised after the debate.
