Jacksonville Jaguars teammates Gabe Davis and Trevor Lawrence almost come to blows during heated sideline altercation

Tensions reached fever pitch in Jacksonville Sunday afternoon as the Jaguars turned on each other amid miserable start to the season.

Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence and Gabe Davis almost came to blows on the sidelines during the first quarter of Jacksonville’s Week 5 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts

The teammates are said to have gotten into it after they failed to connect on a play, leading to a fourth down, according to CBS sideline reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala.

Lawrence, who celebrated his 25th birthday Sunday, spiked his tablet to the turf in anger amid the pair’s heated exchange.

Davis reportedly had to be held back from hitting his quarterback by guard Brandon Scherff as he furiously ranted at Lawrence.

The altercation appeared to come after  the signal caller missed a wide-open Davis on the Jaguars’ previous possession.

Down 7-0 on third and 6, Davis was open down the middle in plenty of space but Lawrence opted to target tight end Brenton Strange instead.

Strange hauled in the pass but was immediately brought down by two members of the Colts’ defense for a gain of just six yards. It brought up a fourth down and forced the struggling Jaguars to punt.

Jacksonville was the NFL’s lone winless team heading into Week 5, looking to end its skid amid a woeful 0-4 start to the season.

Only one NFL team – the 1992 San Diego Chargers – has made the playoffs following an 0-4 start.

The shocking start to the season comes after Lawrence inked a massive new contract during the offseason.

Lawrence put pen to paper in June on a five-year contract extension worth a reported $275million with $200m guaranteed.

Lawrence was entering the final year of his contract before the agreement with the potential of the franchise tag or free agency looming. Lawrence said he didn’t give any consideration to moving on from the Jaguars.

The deal pays Lawrence $55m per season, tying Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals for the highest average annual value among NFL quarterbacks.

Meanwhile, through four games, Davis has just nine receptions and no touchdowns in a quiet start to the campaign.

Lawrence did bounce back with an 85-yard touchdown pass to Brian Thomas Jr. a couple of possessions later but amid a miserable season, it’s clear the Jaguars’ woes are beginning to take their toll.
