A recent interview of Exhibitor Vishek Chauhan has been making rounds on the internet, in which he can be seen praising Shah Rukh Khan’s “Jawan” for breaking region-specific cinema traditions.

In the video, Vishek Chauhan can be seen showering praises for Jawan and the way the film attracted the masses to theatres, even at odd never-before hours for a North Indian film.

He fondly remembers that when he requested a 6 AM show for Jawan, he was told that such early morning shows could only be possible in South India, owing to the crazy and electric cinema culture in the region. He was reminded no one would show up for a 6 AM show in remote areas of states like Bihar.

Vishek Chauhan then goes on to say that this perspective completely broke down when SRK’s “Pathaan” and “Jawan” made their entries into theatres all around India. The early morning shows of Jawan were completely packed with people flocking to see their favourite superstar on the big screen, even in the North.

Vishek said that Indian Cinema is like a complete “thali”, where you need to get all your ingredients right, and the people will come to devour it. He emphasised that this all-round experience of jumping and shouting along with your protagonist is what’s been missing from Bombay for a long time now.

This only goes on to show the unwavering support SRK’s fans have shown him over all these years. It was their cemented love for their star that broke the traditional unsaid cinema norms and further contributed to SRK’s ever-increasing aura in the Indian film industry.
