    The Indian film industry has lost around 24 million viewers due to the pandemic, and the Telugu film industry is facing a similar challenge.

    It’s tough for films to attract audiences to theaters unless they are major event films. A large section of the audience now prefers watching movies on OTT platforms from home.

    Here are the post-COVID footfall numbers in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for some big Telugu films:

    – Balakrishna’s Akhanda: 95 lakhs
    – Allu Arjun’s Pushpa: 130 lakhs
    – Pawan Kalyan’s Bheemla Nayak: 100 lakhs
    – SS Rajamouli’s RRR: 190 lakhs
    – Mahesh Babu’s Sarkaru Vaari Paata: 85 lakhs
    – KGF 2: 100 lakhs
    – Waltair Veerayya: 105 lakhs
    – Adipurush: 75 lakhs
    – Prabhas’ Salaar: 115 lakhs
    – Hanuman: 100 lakhs
    – Guntur Kaaram: 75 lakhs
    – Kalki: 125 lakhs

    It’s unbelievable that RRR managed to pull in nearly 2 crore footfalls. Considering the population of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana is about 9 crores, this means almost one in every five people watched RRR in theaters. That’s wild!

    However, this still pales in comparison to Rajamouli’s earlier hits like Baahubali and Magadheera, which drew in one out of every three people to cinemas before the pandemic. Those numbers were on a different level entirely.

    Now, all eyes are on NTR’s latest release, Devara. Estimates suggest it could reach around 1 crore footfalls in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
