Indian CMO Fired Over Drug & Sex Parties In New York

Dr. Jay Varma

Dr. Jay Varma, who helped manage New York City’s response to the pandemic, was fired from his job as executive vice president and chief medical officer at SIGA Technologies after hidden-camera footage showed him talking about attending sex parties during the Covid pandemic.

From April 2020 to May 2021, Jay Varma worked as a senior public health adviser for then-Mayor Bill de Blasio. He was a key figure in promoting wearing masks, getting tested, and getting vaccinated against Covid-19.

In the video shared by podcaster Steven Crowder, Varma was heard bragging about attending underground parties during the pandemic and acknowledged that it would be “really embarrassing” if this information became public.

He mentioned going to dance parties where people were using drugs, saying, “Everybody was high,” and admitted these parties were not safe during Covid.

Varma explained that he needed to relieve stress from his demanding job by partying. He also recognized that if his actions had been revealed at the time, it would have harmed the city’s public health efforts.

Although he didn’t comment directly on his firing, Varma took responsibility for his poor judgment, claiming the video was edited and taken out of context.
