    The Mystery of Moksha Island

    The Mystery of Moksha Island

The Anish Kuruvilla series, The Mystery of Moksha Island, written by Hanu Man director Prasanth Varma, boasts impressive visuals but falters in execution.

Drawing inspiration from Agatha Christie’s novels, elements of Squid Game, and various other shows, it ultimately fails to deliver the promised excitement.

Despite a compelling premise, the series lacks thrill and intrigue, leaving viewers with dull characters and an absence of jump scares or shocking moments. It only becomes slightly engaging in the pre-climax, but even that twist is predictable and forgettable.

Weak writing is the main culprit here, failing to create memorable characters or captivating situations. While many popular actors are involved, their performances suffer from poor characterization.

The numerous deaths intended to evoke panic feel flat, as the family members react in a manner that lacks urgency, detracting from the emotional weight of the narrative. More panic and tension could have significantly elevated the experience.

Notably, Akshara Gowda stands out in a sultry negative role, and Ashutosh Rana brings a touch of menace, while Nandu delivers a decent performance. However, Tejaswi Madivada’s portrayal is notably irritating.

Another major flaw is the poor dubbing, which leaves dialogues out of sync and awkward in context. The series has the elements of a gripping thriller but lacks the essential panic needed to drive the narrative.

Prasanth Varma as a writer disappoints and delivers a dud on OTT. It’s a passable watch, but viewers won’t miss much by skipping it.
