Police Brutality: Armyman Beaten, Fiancée Molested!

    Police Brutality Odisha

A recent incident regarding an army officer has come to the surface that has completely shocked the nation. Army Major Gurbant Singh and his fiancée Ankita Pradhan reportedly had to face severe police brutality while returning from Pradhan’s restaurant at 1 AM.

The couple was returning home after closing their restaurant when they were harassed by some people. On approaching the Police Station to file a complaint regarding the harassment, instead of getting help, they were allegedly locked and beaten up. Pradhan even claims that she was molested by some officers while inside the lockup.

According to Pradhan, a lady constable was initially present at the reception, who refused to file a complaint and instead started misbehaving with her. After a while, the police allowed Major Gurbant to file the complaint, but then locked him up all of a sudden despite repeated protests from Pradhan. She further says that she was then beaten up and even molested.

Following her complaint, five police officers have been suspended from Bharatpur Police Station, despite the Odisha Police still strongly rejecting her claims!

While many facts have not yet been verified, there is no denying the fact that the Indian Police is no stranger to brutality with the detained. While police brutality in any shape and form is despicable, brutality on an army officer, who serves our country without fearing for his own life, reaches new levels.

It is no science that someone who has come to file a complaint should be comforted and listened to, not be beaten up and molested in the very place considered to be the sacred hands of justice!
