Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal sprung a surprise. Two days after his release from jail, Kejriwal announced his resignation as Delhi Chief Minister and is going to early polls in November.
Delhi is set to go for polls in February next year. Kejriwal is obviously trying to use the arrest issue and negate the eleven years of anti-incumbency.

He will resign in two days and a meeting of AAP MLAs will be held within the next two days to choose the new Chief Minister for the national capital, Kejriwal said.
Kejriwal launched an all-out attack against the Narendra Modi government and said it was more dictatorial than the British.

In the recent General Election, the BJP fell short of the majority and had to depend on its allies to form the Government at the Center.
If the elections in Delhi are to be held in November, the preparation time is obviously less for the BJP.

The BJP has been trying to win the National Capital Region but the AAP has come in the way in the last two elections.
This time, Kejriwal’s party is vulnerable with the Chief Minister and former Deputy Chief Minister arrested in the Delhi Liquor Scam. The AAP would try to convince the people that the scam is nothing but a conspiracy of the BJP.
At one stage, AAP looked like expanding to many states and had a probability of becoming a force at the National level. So, this election will be a litmus test to them. If Delhi is lost, in all probability, AAP will be a gone case.
