Rahi Anil Barve’s folk horror film has gained a cult status in the past 5 years of its release. It brought the lead Sohum Shah to fame due to his power packed performance. Now with the re-release of Tumbbad on big screens the film is set to break records.

The net collection of the film in its first release was 51 lakhs and it has already made 3x that amount on day one. Saturday being the weekend witnessed a surge in bookings. Kareena Kapoor Khan’s fresh release The Buckingham Murders is nowhere close in competing with this re-release.
After earning a staggering 1.65 crores on day one, Tumbbad has become the biggest re-release ever, leaving behind epic films like Sholay, Mughal-e-Azam and Rockstar. The current weekend will only mark a stark increase in its overall earnings.

It is interesting to follow this re-release because it is not a mainstream Bollywood project. It does not have any A-lister as its lead but it still managed to beat B-town superstars like Kareena Kapoor Khan and others. This would surely send the whole industry into a panic mode. This film only marks the fact that a good script and dedicated filmmaking are of prime importance to the cinema lovers.
