Ron Howard JD Vance: Ron Howard made movie on JD Vance’s Hillbilly Elegy but won’t vote for him and Trump | World News

Ron Howard who directed the Netflix movie on JD Vance’s Hillbilly Elegy said he was interested in Vance’s survival tale but now he is not interested in voting for Trump-Vance, he has changed his opinion on Vance. The movie was on the bestseller book based on JD Vance’s upbringing and early life and Howard’s interaction with Vance was mostly on that with little to zero politics. Now he thinks Vance is a changed man and he is very surprised and disappointed by what he is reading about Vance. “I just have to say I’m very surprised and disappointed by much of the rhetoric that I’m reading and hearing. People do change, and I assume that’s the case. Well, it’s on record,” 70-year-old Howard said.
“When we spoke around the time that I knew him, he was not involved in politics or claimed to be particularly interested. So that was then. I think the important thing is to recognize what’s going on today and to vote.”
“It’s not really about a movie made five or six years ago. It is, but we need to respond to what we’re seeing, hearing, feeling now, and vote responsibly, whatever that is. We must participate. That’s my answer.”
“There’s no version of me voting for Donald Trump to be president again, whoever the vice president was.”
The Oscar-winning director was speaking at the Toronto International Film Festival as he made his presidential choice clear.
When Howard said he knew JD was a conservative
JD Vance himself has been a critic of Donald Trump earlier and now that he is Trump’s running mate, his past has come to bite him — from his past political view to his past statements. In 2022, when JD became Ohio senator, Howard said that he was surprised but he knew that JD was a conservative. But Howard said that JD also came across as a very center-right, kind of moderate thinker.
