The Hindi version of Thalapathy Vijay’s film GOAT was not released in major national multiplex chains like PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis.

This is because the film does not comply with the policy that mandates an 8-week gap between a movie’s theatrical release and its debut on OTT platforms. These chains follow this rule to ensure a balanced theatrical and digital release.

It is pretty much confirmed that GOAT is going to be released on OTT in 3 to 4 weeks after its theatrical release.

Despite being one of the most anticipated films of 2024, GOAT failed to create much buzz, mainly due to its poor trailer and worst songs. Interest outside Tamil Nadu, especially in North India, was almost zero.

The Hindi version’s release was further impacted by the absence of promotions and poor awareness, resulting in extremely dull openings at the box office.

Though the film’s reception in the North has been average, there is hope that its appeal to mass audiences in single-screen theaters might prevent it from becoming a complete washout like Indian 2. Most Hindi audiences feel the film isn’t too bad.

Small centers may see a slight boost in theater footfalls, but overall prospects remain very limited.

However, it is pretty much confirmed that GOAT will remain way below Vijay’s biggest grosser in Hindi, Leo, which collected over 32 crores net, as per Bollywood trade.
