Indian Student Illegally Detained in Denmark For Supporting BJP?

Europe loves to boast about its tolerant and welcoming environment for immigrants. However, it all turned awry when an Indian student levied some serious allegations against them during her recent visit to Denmark to attend an event held by the Overseas Friend of BJP (OFBJP).

Srushti Hode, a Maharashtra native and a student in the UK, visited Copenhagen on 31st August for the OFBJP conference addressing the Indian Diaspora from 11 countries. The event went well but the problem arose when she tried to leave the country. What might’ve come as a surprise for her was that the Danish immigration authorities held her at the airport for overstaying. However, Hode claims her flight was delayed and she had already applied for a two-day visa.

According to her, the authorities were aware of her association with the BJP through her social media posts and that was the reason they detained her. These allegations turned more serious when she claimed that she wasn’t given any food, tea, or coffee while being stuck at the airport for more than 24 hours!

This seems a cruel punishment for a student who was only allowed to go back to the UK when officials from BJP intervened. There is no official word either from the BJP or the Danish authorities. All we have now is Srushti’s story who has also claimed that she received a two-year entry ban to the European Union after the incident. The Indian government should look into the matter and help her lift this unjustified ban.
