New Delhi: A Kolkata special court on Tuesday ordered Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, in eight-day custody after his arrest in connection with alleged financial misconduct at the state-run facility.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which made the arrests, argued in court that there was a network of individuals involved in the misconduct and emphasised the need for further interrogation to uncover the full extent of the nexus.
In the court proceedings, the CBI sought a 10-day custody for the accused, saying, that additional offences might surface during the investigation.
However, the judge decided to remand the four individuals to eight days of custody. The court has set the next hearing for September 10, at which time the findings from the ongoing investigation may be presented. The CBI believes that more individuals could be implicated as the probe continues.
