Netflix is set to release ‘IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack,’ a series based on the real-life hijacking of an Indian Airlines flight in December 1999.
The incident involved five Pakistani militants taking control of Flight 814, with 188 passengers onboard, during its journey from Kathmandu to Delhi.

The hijackers forced the plane to land in Kandahar, Afghanistan, leading to days of tense negotiations between the militants and the Indian government.
The series trailer, released on August 19, highlights the panic and desperation during this intense standoff.

In just under three minutes, the trailer captures the escalating demands of the hijackers, the Indian government’s struggles to respond, and the looming danger to the hostages’ lives.
Starring Vijay Varma as the ‘responsible captain,’ the series also features a powerhouse cast, including Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, Arvind Swamy, Dia Mirza, and Patralekhaa.

This series looks extremely promising due to its star-studded cast, featuring legends like Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur, and Kumud Mishra, along with the immensely talented Vijay Varma.
Arvind Swamy, known for his selective approach to projects, adds even more weight to this series. His involvement hints that there’s something unique about the show.
Moreover, Anubhav Sinha, who has recently delivered impactful films like Mulk, Article 15, and Thappad makes his OTT debut with this series.
It’s rare to see an Indian web series bring together so much talent.
Netflix India has been delivering not-so-impressive content for the past many months, except for one or two like The Railway Men. Let’s hope this series doesn’t add to the tally of disappointments.
Directed by Sinha and featuring a cast of this caliber, the series is expected to make a kickass impact when it premieres on August 29.
