John Abraham and Sharvari’s Vedaa opened to disappointing numbers on Independence Day, with early estimates putting its first-day earnings at around Rs. 6 crores.
This figure surpasses advance booking predictions because the boost came largely from walk-in audiences capitalizing on the holiday.

Vedaa has fared better in mass markets, thanks to its action-packed genre, outpacing Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein in terms of day-one collections.
Khel Khel Mein managed a disastrous Rs. 5 crore on its opening day, marking one of the lowest Independence Day openings for the actor.

While it performed better in urban areas, it still fell short of expectations.
The surprise here is that John Abraham’s film outperformed Akshay Kumar’s on the same day, which was unexpected given Kumar’s star power.

In contrast, Stree 2, featuring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, has achieved impressive numbers with an opening day collection of approximately Rs. 52 crores, including paid previews.
Akshay Kumar also makes a notable cameo in Stree 2.
Interestingly, Akshay Kumar is experiencing a rare scenario where he has achieved both the highest and lowest openings on the same day—Rs. 53 crores for Stree 2 and Rs. 5 crores for Khel Khel Mein. He is a rare actor to accomplish such a feat.
The film in which Akshay Kumar has a substantial role has turned out to be a major disaster, whereas his brief appearance in Stree 2 has turned out to be a blockbuster.
While Akshay’s fans are eager to claim credit for the success of Stree 2, they are notably avoiding discussions about the embarrassing performance of Khel Khel Mein.
