There are many cases pending against the illegal assets of YSR Congress President, Jagan Mohan Reddy, in both the Supreme Court and the High Court of Telangana.

In a recent twist of developments, Supreme Court Judge, , withdrew himself from the investigation of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s illegal assets case.
He announced that he would be stepping away from the investigation of cases filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Jagan’s Bharati Cements, Jagathi Publications, and Vijayasai Reddy.

In November 2022, the Telangana High Court ordered that whether the money laundering cases of ED and scheduled crime cases of CBI are investigated separately or jointly, the verdict of the ED case should be delivered only after the verdict of the CBI case.
Challenging this order of the Telangana High Court, the ED filed a petition in the Supreme Court in May 2023.

On Wednesday, the case came into hearing to the Supreme Court bench consisting of Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar. When lawyers from both sides were ready to present their arguments, Justice Sanjay Kumar announced his recusal from the case.
As a result, Justice Sanjeev Khanna directed the Supreme Court registry to transfer the case to another bench and postponed the hearing to the first week of September.
