A former Leeds United player is set to have his contract terminated for a bizarre reason just one month after signing for his new club.

Kristoffer Klaesson, who served as the Whites’ goalkeeper for three years, was spotted at a local McDonald’s, which could lead to the player becoming a free agent in the near future, as reported by PSN Futbol.

The 23-year-old secured a move to Rakow Czestochowa in July for a reported €1.8m (£1.5m).

However, just a month after his transfer, the club is concerned about his physical condition, and may terminate his contract after he was seen at the local branch of the global fast-food chain.

Yet this surprisingly wouldn’t mark the first time the player had caught the headlines for his off-field actions.

Back in April 2024, the goalkeeper crashed his BMW in Norway and was rushed to the hospital.

His former club, Leeds United, later  confirmed the reports that he was the driver on that night to Yorkshire Evening Post

Klaesson was not a starter at the Whites, with only four appearances for the first team.

However, he was a regular feature in the youth sides for both the Yorkshire outfit and his country, Norway, racking up 20 appearances for the Under-21s.

After departing Leeds, the youngster revealed he had to take a significant pay cut to complete his move to Rakow Czestochowa.

‘I don’t really want to comment on salary. It’s a step down, but I get to develop more in everyday life as a goalkeeper,’ said Klaesson to the Norwegian outlet VG

‘Rakow wants to win titles and I feel I can help them with that.’

He added of his choice of destination: ‘It is a slightly unorthodox choice.

The Norwegian was not a starter for Leeds, featuring in just four games in three years with the first team

‘They have an extremely good goalkeeper coach. They are known for developing good goalkeepers in Poland.

‘The ability to develop and sell goalkeepers on was one of the reasons why the choice fell on Rakow.’
