The Union Ministry of Railways gave a key update regarding the establishment of the South Coast Railway (SCoR) zone, which will be headquartered in Visakhapatnam.
Union Minister of Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, announced that land will soon be allocated for the construction of this railway zone’s headquarters.

He mentioned that the Ministry of Railways is in constant contact with the government of Andhra Pradesh regarding this project.
He also added that Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Rao, is regularly in discussions with him about this railway zone.

The land previously allocated for the construction of the SCoR headquarters was prone to water stagnation. Therefore, the government is now allocating a new site for the construction.
The central government promised to establish a separate Visakhapatnam Railway Zone way back in 2019, but it remained unfulfilled.

The central government had earlier allocated funds for setting up this railway zone, but progress was delayed due to issues with land allocation during the Jagan Mohan Reddy’s regime.
However, with the NDA in power at both the state and centre, things are moving quickly, and the railway zone may soon become a reality.
Now that the land allocation will be completed soon, the people of Uttarandhra are expecting the work to proceed rapidly.
