US President Joe Biden on Wednesday said he is “not confident at all” about a peaceful transition of power to Vice President Kamala Harris if Republican Donald Trump loses the November 5 presidential election.
In a recent interview with CBS, Biden expressed his doubts about the likelihood of a smooth transition after the vote and said: “If Trump loses, I’m not confident at all.”
“He means what he says.We don’t take him seriously. He means it. All this stuff about if we lose there’d be a bloodbath,” Biden added.
Earlier in a campaign rally held in Ohio during March, Trump warned of a “bloodbath” if he fails win the election. He had said, “The date — remember this, November 5 — I believe it’s going to be the most important date in the history of our country.”
“Now if I don’t get elected it’s going to be a bloodbath for the whole, that’s going to be the least of it, it’s going to be a bloodbath for the country. That’ll be the least of it. But they’re not going to sell those cars,” he added.
Trump said the remarks were made in the context of discussing the importance of protecting the US auto industry against foreign rivals. He clarified that his use of the word “bloodbath” was specifically in reference to the potential impact on the auto industry.
