TV tonight: watch amazing and terrible dates in action | Television

First Dates

10pm, Channel 4
The funny, sweet and occasionally toe-curling dating show is back, with Fred Sirieix welcoming a varied bunch to his restaurant. There is William, a 24-year-old who has never kissed a girl and is on his first date; Glen, who, rather boldly, compares himself to Christian “Fifty Shades” Grey; and, perhaps most memorably, Sarah, who has a pornographic Marge Simpson tattoo on her arm and is looking for “someone who’s not an arsehole”. Good times await. Phil Harrison

Cooking With the Stars

8pm, ITV1
This week, can Linford Christie cook a better meal using store cupboard ingredients than Ellie Simmonds? And will Katherine Ryan survive a fierce cook-off, also using tinned and frozen ingredients, against the man who is such a reality-show legend that he needs only one name: Biggins? Emma Willis and Tom Allen oversee the culinary misadventures. Jack Seale

The Body Detectives

9pm, Channel 4
Another gruesomely intriguing true-crime case for the cop turned TV presenter Dave Grimstead. This episode explores the case of the so-called North Sea Man – whose mysterious, anonymous body was found 30 years ago. Can a forensic garment analyst, an oceanographer and a forensic psychologist fill in the gaps around his final hours of life? PH

Battle in the Box

9pm, U&Dave
Jess Knappett and Ellie Taylor step into one end of the long rectangular container for this cross between Big Brother and Taskmaster. On the other side, Nabil Abdulrashid bonds with his partner Jamie Laing when they win a task and can move the dividing wall to claim more territory: “Now I see why you guys enjoy colonising so much!” JS

Elsbeth

9pm, Sky Witness

Infuriatingly daffy or charmingly quirky? Carrie Preston in Elsbeth. Photograph: Elizabeth Fisher/CBS

Enjoyment of this The Good Wife spin-off rests on your feelings about Carrie Preston’s titular lead, who will strike you as infuriatingly daffy or charmingly quirky. Elsbeth runs into the villainous maker of the exploitative reality show Lavish Ladies after one of its stars is found dead in the bath. PH

Women on Death Row

12.05am, Channel 4
A series exploring the cases of a few of the 51 women on death row in the US continues with Emilia Carr who, in 2009, was convicted along with her boyfriend of the murder and kidnapping of Heather Strong. Carr maintains her innocence, but why was she alone sentenced to death? PH
