In the recent election, Dharmana Prasada Rao contested from Srikakulam and lost to the TDP candidate Gondu Shankar. This loss is particularly difficult for Dharmana Prasada Rao to accept, given his extensive experience compared to the relatively junior Shankar.
Initially, Dharmana had expressed a desire to avoid contesting in the 2024 elections and had worked hard to secure the Srikakulam ticket for his son. However, when that did not happen, he ended up running himself.

Now, at 66 years old and looking ahead to the next election cycle when he will be 70, Dharmana Prasada Rao is contemplating retiring from active politics. He is considering passing on his political legacy to his son, Ram Manohar Naidu.
Both father and son are currently less active in the party, but Dharmana hopes that by stepping aside now, his son will have the opportunity to gain experience and establish himself in the political arena well before the next election.
