After the disastrous result of Liger, maverick director Puri Jagannadh is back with not just another outing, but a sequel to a film that rejuvenated his career, iSmart Shankar named Double iSmart Shankar. The theatrical of the movie is out now and it looks like the director has cooked up more ‘paithyam’ with a simple twist this time.

The theatrical trailer of Double iSmart Shankar gives the same impression as the first part with the love track getting next level of treatment from the mind of Puri Jagannadh. While it was thought as trouble , it worked well for the first part, with Ram’s energy, which makes one a little cautious to write it off immediately. If that wasn’t the case, one could write it off immediately.
At the same time, there is a hint at something new via that immortality angle that’s suggested by Sanjay Dutt character. It was the same case with the first part where the ‘chip’ played a key role. Will that be the case here needs to be seen.

Basically, the trailer offers nothing new unlike the first part, which despite its issues had a ‘fresh’ angle. Ram was terrific, but we have seen him do all that before . We expected it (the first part) to be a treat or torture. Luckily the movie ended up on the positive side as far as audience is concerned. We have to see if thats the case second time around.
It is also surprising that Puri chose to reveal every detail of the story so openly. It remains to be seen if there are still some surprises in the theaters.
