On August 1st, Imane Khelif of Algeria won her Olympic boxing match against Italy’s Angela Carini in just 46 seconds. Angela Carini abandoned the fight after receiving two strong punches, saying, “This is unjust.”

The controversy centers on Imane Khelif’s participation, as she had previously failed a gender eligibility test, indicating she is biologically male.

Despite this, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) allowed her to compete in the women’s category under more relaxed rules, unlike the International Boxing Association (IBA), which had banned her.

Angela Carini’s decision to withdraw was driven not just by the punches but by a sense of unfairness. She described the blows as the strongest she had ever faced. Her emotional response and refusal to shake Khelif’s hand highlighted her frustration.

This incident has sparked a debate about fairness in women’s sports. Many prominent figures, including public figures like Liz Truss and J.K. Rowling, argue that allowing biologically male athletes to compete in women’s events undermines the integrity and safety of female sports.

They stress that while inclusivity is important, it should not compromise fairness for female competitors.

Many fans took to social media to voice their outrage and frustration.

One user wrote, “Absolutely disgusting. This poor girl, who trained for years as a female boxer, ends up in the Olympics—the pinnacle of her career—and gets matched against a biological male!”

Another fan expressed sympathy, saying, “I’m heartbroken for her. All the women who train so hard in the sport are facing this injustice.”

Another comment highlighted the emotional toll on Angela Carini: “People are underestimating how traumatic this experience must be for Angela.”

Further reactions from fans included statements like, “This feels like an outright attack on women. It’s barbaric to watch and seems driven by a woke agenda that’s increasingly hostile to biological women.”

Another fan urged, “Women must refuse to fight or compete against men. Only then will this madness end.”

Yet another comment called for action, stating, “It’s shocking to see. Imane Khelif should be disqualified. What kind of world are we living in?”

Angela’s coach revealed, “I’m not sure if her nose is broken yet. Many people in Italy advised her not to fight, warning that it was dangerous against someone who is biologically male.”
