Shark Tank India Season 2 episode 7 premiered on Sony LIV and Sony Entertainment Television on January 10, 2023, at 10PM IST. Payel Seth is the show’s creative director, while it’s been produced by Studio NEXT, with Ravikesh Vatsa as its writer. The show is now hosted by renowned comedian Rahul Dua, and is joined by six sharks, namely, Anupam Mittal Founder-CEO of Shaadi.com – People Group; Aman Gupta, Co-Founder-CMO of boAt; Namita Thapar, Executive Director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals; Vineeta Singh, Co-Founder-CEO of SUGAR Cosmetics; Peyush Bansal, Founder-CEO of Lenskart.com and Amit Jain, Co-Founder-CEO of CarDekho Group and InsuranceDekho.com.
The seventh episode of the second edition of Shark Tank India managed to keep discussions largely restricted to business upon introducing the pitches of ‘GunjanApp Studios’, ‘The Simply Salad’ and ‘AyuDevices’. While the last two companies secured deals, GunjanApps couldn’t; however, their pitch helped push a lot of traffic to their website. Viewers who kept tabs on the latest broadcast of the show straightaway went off to check the brand’s website, and it mentioned how it crashed during the episode’s telecast.
As one of the Twitter users rightly pointed out, even if the business reality TV show doesn’t help you raise funds for your business, but “is definitely hands down the best bet to market oneself”. On the other hand, some spoke up that Anupam Mittal’s response to the business arose due to his biased stance and “conflict of interest”.
Namita Thapar has been turning down many businesses this time. Still, when it came to ‘AyuDevices’, she swung right in to claim the spot as the sole investor in the company with her ‘sharky’ pounce, which led people to grant her the title of “Barbara Corcoran of Shark Tank India”. Being the CEO of Lenskart has its perks, and they’re paying off as the audience can’t help but notice Peyush Bansal’s collection of frames, as he’s often seen wearing on the show. He’s also been praised for being “a low drama shark” ever since the onset of the season.
Netizens have already accepted the new season as a modified rendition of Indian Idol. Moreover, the commonly featured food businesses on the show have led them to believe it even combines factors of other reality series like Masterchef, Kaun Banega Crorepati and Roadies. Unfortunately, people who’ve been fans of Rahul Dua’s comedy till now are tired of seeing his talents being “underutilised” as he plainly reads a never-ending list of sponsors throughout the broadcast. Amit Jain’s absence has become yet another concerning issue at the moment.
