Following a bomb scare on a Moscow-Goa flight, the Russian embassy said on Monday they were alerted about the same by the Indian authorities, and that a detailed inspection of the aircraft concerned is underway.
“The Embassy was alerted by the Indian authorities about the alleged bomb scare on the Azur Air flight en route from Moscow to Goa. The aircraft has made an emergency landing at Jamnagar Indian Air Force Base. Everyone on board is safe. The authorities are conducting a thorough inspection of the aircraft,” a statement by the Russian embassy read.
The flight made an emergency landing at Gujarat’s Jamnagar Airport owing to the bomb threat, police said.
Inspector general of Police (Rajkot and Jamnagar Range), Ashok Kumar Yadav said that all 236 passengers who were on board the aircraft were safely evacuated, and the plane was being checked by local authorities along with cops and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad.
The flight took off from Moscow and was headed to Goa’s Dabolim Airport.
Yadav said that security has been beefed up at the Dabolim Airport as a precautionary step.
Furthermore, all emergency services are kept on standby at the airport in Goa while senior police officers held a meeting with airport officials soon.
The flight landed at Jamnagar Airport at 9.49pm.
