Heavy rainfall has struck the local train services in Mumbai. The lifeline of Mumbai remains suspended on several routes after incessant downpours in the state of Maharashtra.
Local train services between Kasara and Titwala stations in Thane district adjoining Mumbai were suspended on Sunday morning after tree fell on the tracks following the heavy rains.
The tracks were declared unsafe around 6.30 am today and the train services between Kasara and Titwala were suspended.
At around 6.30 am, soil came on tracks between Atgaon and Thansit stations due to heavy trains and a tree fall blocking tracks near Vashind station, disrupting rail traffic on the busy Kalyan-Kasara route, an official told PTI.
Meanwhile, the IMD has predicted further heavy downpours in the state during the next 3-4 days. Heavy rains are likely to hit Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada region from July 8 to July 10, 2024.
Since Saturday, Thane district has been experiencing heavy rainfall, leading to water logging in multiple areas. Houses and bridges in the Shahpur area have been submerged due to the downpour. The NDRF team is conducting a rescue operation in the area.
