UP Hathras Stampede Live Updates: The Uttar Pradesh Police on Thursday arrested six satsang organisers in connection with the Hathras stampede that killed 121 people. Aligarh IG Shalabh Mathur said, “Six people including four men and two women have been arrested in the incident. They all are members of the organising committee and worked as ‘Sevadars’.” He said that a non-bailable warrant would be issued against chief sevadar Devprakash Madhukar.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath yesterday (July 3) ordered a judicial probe led by retired High Court judge Brijesh Kumar Srivastava and two other retired IAS officers Hemant Rao and Bhavesh Kumar Singh, into the incident. While police filed an FIR against the organisers and the probe is underway, Narayan Sakar Vishwa Hari or ‘Bhole Baba’ has not been named in the case.
‘Bhole Baba’ was arrested in 2000: The stampede occurred during a satsang hosted by a self-styled religious preacher Bhole Baba. Back in 2000, he was arrested in Agra for claiming “magical powers” and allegedly taking the body of a 16-year-old girl forcibly from her family saying he would bring her back to life.
