Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal are set to tie the knot on June 23. The marriage has also been a talking point due to the different faiths that Sonakshi and Zaheer have. It was being rumoured that Shatrughan Sinha was not quite happy about this union, however, he put all these rumours to rest as the families got together over dinner and then posed for the paps together.As Sonakshi will marry a Muslim man, Zaheer’s father Iqbal Ratansi has spoken on this.
Ratansi has clarified in an interview that Sonakshi will not convert to Islam after the couple gets married. He told Free Press Journal that the wedding will neither have Muslim rituals nor Hindu rituals. It will be a civil marriage. He further added, “He is not converting and that is for sure. Theirs is a union of hearts and religion has no role to play whatsoever.”
Ratansi also gave his blessings to the couple and said, “I believe in humanity. God is called Bhagwan by Hindus and Allah by Muslims. But at the end of the day, we are all human beings. My blessings are with Zaheer and Sonakshi.”
Sonakshi and Zaheer will have a registered wedding as per the Special Marriage Act, 1954. The wedding is set to take place at Zaheer’s Bandra residence at Carter road. The couple’s wedding festivities have begun already with their mehendi function. Post their registered marriage on June 23, the couple will hold a party for their friends in the evening at Bastian.
