Putin bids farewell to Kim Jong Un with a wave from plane window; video goes viral

NEW DELHI: A video that went viral on social media platforms captured a moment where Russian President Vladimir Putin bid farewell to North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un from the window of his private jet.

The video, which DailyMail shared, showed Putin peeping through the airplane window and waving at the North Korean leader as he departed.

Putin’s visit to North Korea on Wednesday, his first in 24 years, highlighted the growing strategic partnership between Russia and North Korea amidst concerns about their increasing military cooperation. During the visit, the 71-year-old Russian president presented the 40-year-old North Korean leader with a luxurious Aurus limousine, marking the second occasion where Kim has received this particular car model from Putin.

Alongside the car, Putin also presented Kim with a tea set as a gift. The meeting culminated in a test drive, where Putin took Kim for a ride in the Russian-made Aurus vehicle. This exchange follows a previous encounter in September of last year, when Kim visited Russia’s Vostochny Cosmodrome space launch site and Putin showed him a model of an Aurus Motors executive car.

Earlier this year in February, Putin had already gifted an Aurus to Kim, making him the first leader to receive one as a present, as reported by Tass, although the specific model was not revealed at the time.
