Women often have a slower metabolic rate than males do by nature. As a result, your body consumes fewer calories (or equivalent units of energy) to power routine bodily processes like breathing, thinking, and blood circulation. The extra energy is converted to fat and stored.
Plus, women often have higher body compositions than men. In other words, men tend to gain weight that is primarily made up of muscle rather than fat, which lowers their body mass index (BMI). Fortunately for guys, muscle burns more calories than fat, even while at rest.
Does reducing weight be more difficult for women? is a question that has been asked for years. Women physiologically have easier difficulty retaining more weight.
Functional nutritionist, Smriti Kochar revealed in an Instagram post why women cannot lose weight easily and talked about the drawbacks of fad diets and cutting down on calories. She said in her YouTube video, “Cutting down on the massive amount of calories and exercising a lot can put your body under stress that releases cortisol hormones in your body also known as stress hormones. This directly affects the thyroid gland in your body which is responsible for maintaining the body temperature, controlling cholesterol, and managing the body weight.”
She also said, “When you cut down on vegetables due to portion control you tend to destroy the microbiome in your gut. All the starving aids your gut inviting a lot of infections.”
