‘We love you, Papa’: Prince William’s children wish him Father’s day in photo clicked by Kate

NEW DELHI: A photograph of Prince William with his three children, taken by the Princess Catherine, was released with the accompanying message, “We love you, Papa. Happy Father’s Day.” It was signed G, C & L, initials of Prince George, Prince Louis, and Princess Charlotte.

According to Kensington Palace, Princess Catherine, more popularly known as Kate, took the picture of Prince William and the children on the Norfolk coast last month. This post marks the first time a message from Louis, George, and Charlotte has been shared on the family’s social media accounts.

Earlier, the Prince of Wales honored Father’s Day by sharing a photo of himself and King Charles playing football, with the message: “Happy Father’s Day, Pa.” The social media post features a smiling William as an almost two-year-old toddler in Kensington Palace gardens.

The image shows William in short dungarees and a stripey blue top, with King Charles in a grey double-breasted suit, kicking a small football. The photo was taken on June 12, 1984, just months before Harry’s birth in September.

Recently, Princess Kate made her first public appearance of the year on Saturday, attending King Charles’s official birthday celebrations. For the traditional Trooping the Colour ceremony, the Princess of Wales rode in a carriage with her children. Kate and other members of the Royal Family received cheers from the large crowds gathered in The Mall when they were first spotted.

William, the Princess Royal, and the Duke of Edinburgh participated on horseback, while the King also rode in a carriage with the Queen, a change from last year’s horseback entry due to his illness.

Both Kate and Charles have expressed their gratitude to the public for their support after sharing news of their illnesses. Kate mentioned she had been ‘blown away’ by the ‘kind messages’ that made a ‘world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times.’

On January 16, Kate was admitted to the hospital for abdominal surgery. Initially, it was thought her condition was non-cancerous, but cancer was discovered following the successful operation.

King Charles was also admitted to the hospital just days after Kate for a procedure deemed unrelated to cancer. In February, Buckingham Palace confirmed he had been diagnosed with a form of cancer, which is not prostate cancer, discovered while the King was being treated for an enlarged prostate at the private London Clinic.

Though King Charles initially postponed his public duties, he resumed them at the end of April. During this time, he spoke of his ‘shock’ at the diagnosis while meeting patients during a visit to University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre in central London.
