Why Vitamin D supplements might not work for everybody

Vitamin D is essential for bone health because it helps the body absorb calcium. This is particularly important for growing children, who need strong bones to support their development. Despite this well-known fact, new research indicates that vitamin D supplements may not be the key to stronger bones than many believe.

A study conducted by the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Queen Mary University of London revealed surprising results. The study, involving over 8,000 children aged 6-13 in Mongolia, found that while vitamin D supplements effectively raised vitamin D levels in the body, they did not improve bone strength or reduce the risk of fractures. These findings challenge the belief that vitamin D supplementation is beneficial for bone health in children.
