    INDIA Bloc To Sit In Oppn As Numbers In NDA’s Favour, Says Will Continue Fight Against BJP


    A meeting of INDIA bloc leaders took place at the residence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in the national capital. INDI bloc will sit in the opposition and make no attempts to form the government, it was decided in the meeting, sources said.

    Joint Statement Issued By INDI Bloc

    In a joint statement, the INDIA bloc expressed gratitude towards the people of India for the “overwhelming support”. “The people’s mandate has given a befitting reply to the BJP and their politics of hate, corruption and deprivation. This is a political and moral defeat of Prime Minister, Sh Narendra Modi,” the statement said.

    “This is a mandate in defense of the Constitution of India and against price rise, unemployment and crony capitalism of the Modi Government.

    The India bloc will continue to fight against the fascist rule of the BJP led by Sh. Modi. We will take appropriate steps at the appropriate time to realise the people’s desire not to be ruled by the BJP’s government,” it added.

    At the INDIA bloc meeting, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge said, “Despite clear moral defeat, PM Modi is determined to subvert will of people.”

    ER Eswaran, General Secretary, Kongunadu Makkal Desia Katchi (KMDK) said, “The mandate is clearly for the INDIA bloc. But the situation is not conducive and numbers are not with us.”

    Dipankar Bhattacharya, General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation called it a “fruitful meeting” and said, “We adopted a resolution thanking people for supporting our election campaign and that the mandate is squarely against the BJP government.”

    Congress won 99 seats and the Samajwadi Party regained its stronghold in Uttar Pradesh, taking the INDIA bloc’s tally to 234 seats in the Lok Sabha elections 2024. The BJP, on the other hand, fell short of crossing the majority mark by securing 240 seats, but key NDA allies, Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP and Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) won 16 and 12 seats respectively taking NDA’s tally to 292.
