Ansu Fati talks Araujo, Gavi, Lamine, Cubarsi, Hansi Flick, Camp Nou dream

Barcelona forward Ansu Fati has confidently stated that he is fully recovered from any previous injuries and has eagerly commenced his preparations for the upcoming season by dedicating numerous hours to gym workouts.

“I’m 100%, I spend many hours in the gym, there are people who believe that I can only be injured, but it’s not like that,” the young forward told Mundo Deportivo.

It is worth noting that Ansu spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Brighton and Hove Albion.

Despite a promising start under the management of Roberto de Zerbi, his progress was hindered by frequent injuries and inconsistent performances, which significantly reduced his opportunities on the field.

Now that his loan spell with Brighton has concluded, the budding forward will return to Barcelona with a modest record of four goals and one assist from the recent season.

Ansu Fati is ready to bear more pressure at Barcelona

Reflecting on his loan experience, Ansu expressed feeling undervalued by his parent club, Barcelona, prompting him to agree to the loan arrangement.

While rumours suggest that Barcelona may not have concrete plans for Ansu’s future, the player himself has pledged unwavering commitment to giving his best whenever he wears the club’s colours.

“I’m 21 years old, but I have experienced a lot.

“I felt that everything I did was not valued and that’s why I decided to leave on loan, that’s what I had to do.

“I have been at Barça for many years, I’m an academy player. For me playing for Barça is my greatest enthusiasm. Every time I get the chance, I try to do my best,” he said.

He also had some words reserved for his new manager, Hansi Flick, “I met and greeted Flick when he came to visit Brighton, he arrives at the best club in the world and I’m sure he will do very well.”

Friendship with Balde, Araujo and Gavi

Additionally, Ansu shared insights into his relationships with his Barcelona teammates, disclosing that he maintains regular contact with Alejandro Balde, Ronald Araujo, and Gavi.

He fondly recounted instances of team bonding over barbecue gatherings whenever he visited Barcelona.

“I’ve been in contact with Balde, Ronald and Gavi. I have come to Barcelona many times and in many of my visits we made plans such as barbecues at home or going out to eat.”

Furthermore, when discussing Lamine Yamal, another young talent, Ansu praised his potential for reaching the pinnacle of the sport.

However, he emphasised the importance of the club safeguarding and nurturing talents like Yamal to ensure their successful development.

“Lamine is a star, he has everything to reach the world top, but you have to protect him, like [Pau] Cubarsi.”

Lastly, talking about a few tidbits, Ansu admitted, “I wish I could score the first goal at the new Spotify Camp Nou.”
