Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, Xiaomi 14 Civi, Realme GT 6 and more | June 2024 smartphone launch update – Technology News

June 2024 promises to be “power-packed” when it comes to smartphones. Not that May was any slouch, but June would be great — before July, that’s expected to be “epic” even as Samsung preps for Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 global launch. In June, it will see some much-needed competition in the form of Vivo X Fold 3 Pro. Vivo’s first foldable book-style foldable in India will bank heavily on posh hardware and Google Gemini AI infused software to entice buyers. Samsung’s already feeling the heat after Huawei beat it to the punch recently becoming the world’s largest foldable maker. The challenger from Vivo should be taken very seriously.

But moving on, OnePlus will give its flagship OnePlus 12 a “mid-cycle” refresh this month in the form of an all-new glacial white colour variant which it says will be a “limited-edition.” Realme meanwhile is planning to step into its “flagship killer” turf with the impending launch of the Realme GT. Realme in fact is taking things a step further by bringing AI into the equation, calling its upcoming phone not just a flagship killer, but an AI flagship killer. A tall claim that we can’t wait to test out.

Basking in the success of its Xiaomi 14, Xiaomi is set to add another smartphone to the series in June. It is called the Xiaomi 14 Civi and before you ask—yes, it will have Leica cameras. Xiaomi in fact uses the same type of Leica Summilux lenses in the Xiaomi 14 Civi as the Xiaomi 14, so it’s safe to say, we’re going to see another technological marvel in the market soon. Elsewhere, the phone is expected to be a rebranded Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro from China with the freshly minted Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 at the helm.

Here’s a quick rundown of all the big smartphones launches in June 2024:

    1. Vivo X Fold 3 Pro: Vivo will launch its first foldable phone, the X Fold 3 Pro, in India on June 6, 2024, a month ahead of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6. This move underscores Vivo’s commitment to expanding its premium offerings in its largest smartphone market by volume. The X Fold 3 Pro features a lightweight, durable carbon fibre hinge certified for 500,000 folds by TÜV Rheinland and IPX8 water resistance. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, it includes ZEISS optics and Google’s Gemini AI for on-device generative AI tasks.
    2. OnePlus 12 Glacial White: OnePlus has unveiled a Glacial White mid-cycle refresh of its flagship OnePlus 12, set to launch in India on June 6. Billed as a limited edition, this model will be available in limited numbers. Memory configurations and pricing details are yet to be announced. OnePlus describes the Glacial White variant as inspired by the beauty and resilience of glaciers, offering a blend of serenity and power. The new design aims to balance the chaos of modern life, according to the company’s statement.
    3. Xiaomi 14 Civi: Xiaomi is set to launch the Xiaomi 14 Civi in India on June 12, 2024. This model, a rebranded version of China’s Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro, joins the Xiaomi 14 series, which includes the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Ultra, all featuring Leica optics. The Xiaomi 14 Civi will be the first Civi-branded smartphone available in India. It will come in three colors: cruise blue, matcha green, and shadow black. This strategic positioning aims to expand Xiaomi’s premium offerings in the Indian market.
    4. Realme GT 6: Realme is set to launch the Realme GT 6 in India, another addition to its GT series. It’s unclear whether it will be positioned above or below the recently launched Realme GT 6T. Marketed as an “AI flagship killer,” the GT 6 suggests a focus on advanced AI features. This launch marks the end of a nearly two-year hiatus for Realme’s GT phones. Additionally, Realme is preparing the GT 7 Pro. While the GT 6 launch date remains undisclosed, it’s rumoured to be a rebranded version of China’s GT Neo 6, featuring the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3.
    5. Honor 200 series: Huawei spin-off Honor is gearing to launch its Honor 200 series globally in Paris on June 12, 2024. Amazon has confirmed the Honor 200 series is headed to India, though the exact date of launch remains unclear at the time of writing. Also, it isn’t immediately clear if Honor plans to launch both the Honor 200 and Honor 200 Pro in India or just one phone out of them. The Honor 200 series was launched recently in China so we know what to expect. While the Honor 200 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, the Honor 200 Pro has a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. Both phones have a lot of shared specs. They have the same battery, very nearly the same display specs, and mostly similar cameras.
