INDIA Bloc To Win 295 Lok Sabha Seats, We Need To Remain Alert On Result Day: Mallikarjun Kharge

The INDIA bloc will win at least 295 Lok Sabha seats, said Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge after the alliance leaders met at his residence in New Delhi to discuss the future plan of action as the General Election concluded on Saturday.

“We will win at least 295 seats. This is people’s survey and based on that we are getting more that 290 seats,” said Kharge at the press conference of the INDIA bloc.

“Today we had a meeting for 2 and half hours we spoke on multiple issues and specially on elections. We spoke on the weakness of the alliance during the election and what lesson we learned were discussed. We also discussed on the preparation for counting day,” he said.

“We have taken a decision that today BJP and their friends will discuss a lot on exit polls and will give a narrative. We want people to know the truth,” he added.

The prominent Opposition leaders exuded confidence about a positive outcome on June 4 (result day).

As the meeting began, the Congress chief took to X saying, “The leaders of INDIA parties are informally meeting today to take stock of the preparations leading up to the counting day. The fight is still not over, and the leaders and workers of all the parties are extremely alert. I thank each one of them for their esteemed presence. We have fought the polls with all our might and are confident of a positive outcome, as the people of India have supported us.”

At the meeting, organised at Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence, the INDIA bloc leaders discussed the opposition’s preparations for the counting day on June 4. Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters on Thursday, Kharge said the meeting was being held for “their own sake” to train people and to give them information.

“This is an informal meeting. In this, we will only discuss what kind of preparation we should have on the day of counting and how our people should be alert, whether it is about EVMs or the 17C form used… Just for our own sake, we are holding this meeting to train our people and to give them information,” he said.

Senior leaders of the Congress, CPI-M, CPI, DMK, AAP, RJD, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (Sharad Pawar) were present during the discussion. TMC chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had already said they would not attend the meeting as there were elections in the state, while PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti also skippped the meeting.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann attended the meeting, besides senior Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and K C Venugopal. DMK supremo and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin said party leader TR Baalu.

“June 4th will mark the beginning of a new dawn for India. In today’s meeting of INDIA bloc leaders, DMK will be represented by our party Treasurer and leader of DMK’s Parliamentary Party, Thiru. T.R. Baalu avl,” Stalin said in a post on ‘X.’ Kharge had said this was an informal meeting where they would only discuss what kind of preparations they should have on the day of counting and how people should be alert, whether it is about the EVMs or the use of Form 17C.

The meeting is only for discussing the counting preparations and the Congress has already told its state units to be alert about Form 17C. People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti said she was likely to skip the meeting due to personal reasons. “I may not go as my mom has undergone an eye surgery,” she told PTI.
