The new Duster carries forward the legacy of the earlier generation but with a more modern look. At the front, we have rugged bumpers complimented by a modern grille and pearl-shaped LED headlamps. It comes with a sculpted bonnet. The side profile has blacked-out elements adding that rugged look. At the rear, we have triangular-shaped LED tail lamps and a chrome bumper similar to the front.

The rugged feel continues in the interior. At one glance, the design is nothing fancy but looks very practical. The dashboard is upright, something you see in lifestyle SUVs. On it, we have a big floating infotainment system duster badging and rectangular AC vents. Below that, we have HVAC controls and a lot of phone charging options. In terms of features, the Indian model could get a sunroof, ventilated seats, ambient lighting, a digital instrument cluster, a big touchscreen, etc.

    Specifications

Renault had earlier stated that it plans to launch strong hybrids in India. The French brand is looking to localise the setup to save on costs. In India, the new Duster could become the first Renault car to offer a hybrid setup. Globally, Renault is offering a 1.2-litre plug-in hybrid setup on the Duster. Renault could revolutionise the hybrid segment if it brings this option to India. For that to happen, Renault will be hoping the government reduces taxes on hybrids. Other non-hybrid options include 1.0-litre turbo petrol and 1.3-litre turbo petrol. It remains to be seen which engine Renault will introduce in India. Transmission should include manual and automatic gearbox options.

Renault has commenced the sales of Duster in Turkey. The French brand is expected to launch in other parts of Europe. When is it coming to India? India launch is expected only in the second half of 2024. This delay is because the Indian version would be slightly different compared to the global version. Pricing-wise, we can expect a price tag of Rs 12.50 lakh to Rs 22.75 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
