It might not be the ideal ending that Dinesh Karthik and his IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru were hoping for as their campaign in the 2024 edition of the T20 League came to a screeching halt following their loss to Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator 1 clash at Ahmedabad on Wednesday night.
Prior to the season, the veteran wicketkeeper-batter had indicated that the IPL 2024 could be the last of his career.
RCB didn’t have the best of starts to their season but they managed to pull things back and sneak their way into the playoffs.
Karthik is among the few stars who have been part of every IPL season since its inception in 2008. He has played for several top franchises barring his home-based side Chennai Super Kings.
He was given a massive round of applause by his RCB teammates and the fans present in the stands at the Narendra Modi Stadium following the game against RR.
Karthik was once again amazing as the designated finisher for the franchise and ended the campaign with 326 runs in 15 matches. He also put himself in contention for a T20 World Cup call-up but was not given the nod.
He surely has etched his name in the history books of the competition as one of its finest players who moulded his game as per the requirement. Since his move to Kolkata Knight Riders in 2018, he became a top finisher.
