Promising actress Aishwarya Rajesh is back with a road thriller called Driver Jamuna. After many postponements, the movie has finally hit screens today. Let’s check how the movie is.

    Story :

Jamuna (Aishwarya Rajesh) is a cab driver, who looks after her paralysed mother (Sriranjani). In the meantime, a group of goons are on their way to kill an ex-minister (Aadukalam Naren). Their car breaks down and when booked a call taxi, Aishwarya picks them up. Eventually, she comes to know their true colours and in the meantime, police are hunting for them. What did Jamuna do? Did they kill the politician? The answers will be known in the main movie.

    Plus Points :

Aishwarya Rajesh chooses a different yet unique story. She needs to be praised for selecting such a female-centric film. To talk about performance, she delivers her best.

The goons batch thrills with their natural performances. The rest of the actors are okay in their respective roles. The plot is nice and the emotional scenes are good actually. Camerawork and the music elevated some of the scenes and make audiences feel the thrill.

    Minus Points :

Director Kinslin chooses a simple thriller but he utterly failed to narrate it in a crisp manner. One can feel boredom by the unnecessary lag created by the director. As the film goes on, the plot becomes diluted and thus makes one feel what the actual point is.

The film is around 90 minutes in length and while watching it one can say that the film needs so much to be trimmed. But, the director needs a pat on the back for keeping the actual point under wraps until the pre-climax. This is the only best part of this entire writing.

The politician and scenes related to him are unimpressive and the director should have concentrated on more emotional scenes. The backstory of Aishwarya could have been narrated interestingly to engage the audience.

    Technical Aspects :

Director Kinslin fails to make the story an engaging one. He should have added some twists and turns, and writing an engaging screenplay could have helped the film look decent. Music by Ghibran and cinematography by Gokul Benoy are impressive in a few scenes. Editing is okay but the film needs serious trimming.

    Verdict :

On the whole, Driver Jamuna is a boring thriller that fails to engage audiences. Except for Aishwarya Rajesh’s subtle performance, the flick has nothing much to talk about. If you are a fan of thriller movies, Driver Jamuna disappoints you and it is better to skip it and go for other options.
