500 Crore Is Minimum Satisfaction!

500 Crore Is Minimum Satisfaction!

The Hindi film industry is facing a disastrous year in 2024, with only four hit films so far, lesser than even the worst year of 2022.

For a stronger finish to the year, the industry hopes lie on upcoming Diwali releases, Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, especially since there aren’t many major Hindi films left to release this year.

These two Diwali films need to achieve a combined 500 crore net at the box office to provide some relief for the bleeding industry.

Historically, the Diwali period has only reached around 250 crore net, with Tiger 3 in 2023 and Golmaal Again and Secret Superstar in 2017.

This year’s Diwali releases would need to double this performance to have some kind of satisfaction inside the industry. The good news is that they have a five-week window until Pushpa 2 releases, giving them a chance to collect numbers if the content is liked by the audience.

The clash between these Diwali releases may lead to intense pre-release marketing tactics as each tries to gain an edge. Ultimately, though, the films’ content will determine box office success.

With no big releases post-Diwali, this clash isn’t as destructive as in past years, giving both films a chance to perform well if audiences’ response is positive.

However, pre-release competition has become uglier, with more tactics like PR strategies and digital trends being used to build hype.
