    Nanded: At least 12 newborn babies among 24 patients have died in 24 hours at a government hospital in Nanded, Maharashtra, due to lack of medicines and medical facilities.

    Meanwhile, Senior Congress leader Ashok Chavan has claimed that a total of 24 lives have been lost of whom 12 were newborns and 12 were adults. He further stated 70 people are still critically ill, This happened due to a lack of staff and hospital facilities, according to reports.

    Ashok Chavan after his inspection at Nanded government hospital told media, “A total of 24 lives are lost, 70 are still critical, there is lack of medical facilities and staff many nurses were transferred and their replacements are not given….many machines are not working…the hospital’s capacity is 500 , 1200 patients are admitted. I will speak to Ajit Pawar and the government should look into this matter keenly…. and take control over the situation.”

    Rahul Gandhi took his Twitter account and said, “The news of death of 24 people including 12 newborns due to shortage of medicines in the government hospital of Nanded, Maharashtra is extremely sad. I express my deepest condolences to all the bereaved families. The BJP government spends thousands of crores of rupees on its publicity, but there is no money for medicines for children? In the eyes of BJP, the lives of the poor have no value.”

    Spokesperson of the Nationalist Congress Party, Maharashtra State, Vikas Lawande stated in his tweet on X (formerly known as Twitter) and captioned it, “24 deaths, including 12 newborn babies, were reported in the government hospital in Nanded due to a lack of medicine supply only from the state government. Shame on the government that advertises festivals and events.”

    Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde said that he clueless, “have no clue about 12 babies dying in Nanded hospital. When asked he says will sought more information on this and appropriate action will be taken.”

    Dr.Wakode Dean, govt medical College Nanded said, “6 males and 6 female new born babies died in the last 24 hrs…12 adults also died due to various ailments..(mostly snake bites). Due to transfers of various staff there was some difficulty for us. In this duration there is an institute hafkin, we were supposed to buy medicines from them but that also didn’t happen….also patients come from far off to this hospital and there were many patients our sanctioned budget also got disturbed..but we buy medicines locally n provide it to patients.”

    Supriya Sule, Member of Lok Sabha, took her Facebook live and stated, “This triple engine sarkar is responsible for the death of all 24 innocent lives…I strongly condemn.”
