Practo has appointed former COO Jagnoor Singh as CEO, while founder Shashank ND Singh has moved to the expanded role of MD and executive chairman

The leadership reshuffle comes as the healthtech startup expands internationally, steps up its focus on AI, and prepares for a proposed public listing

Cofounder Siddhartha Nihalani has taken charge as COO – B2C, Rowel Coelho as COO – B2B, and cofounder Abhinav Lal as chief scientist

Healthtech startup PractoPracto Datalabs_in-article-icon has overhauled its top leadership, appointing former COO Jagnoor Singh as CEO, while cofounder and former CEO Shashank ND Singh has moved to the expanded role of MD and executive chairman.

Singh’s appointment took effect on September 1. He will lead Practo’s overall strategy, growth, and operations across its global markets, the startup said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Shashank will focus on Practo’s long-term vision, product and strategy, innovation agenda, capital strategy, inorganic growth, and corporate development initiatives.

Singh joined Practo as COO in January 2025 and has since worked on its growth strategy, operational execution, and entry into new markets. Before joining Practo, he held senior positions at Bharti Airtel, Unacademy, and OYO.

Practo has also expanded the responsibilities of three senior executives as part of the leadership reshuffle.

Cofounder Siddhartha Nihalani has taken on the additional responsibility of COO – B2C and will oversee Practo’s consumer businesses. Rowel Coelho, previously its head of monetisation, has been appointed COO – B2B and will lead the soonicorn’s enterprise and corporate businesses.

Meanwhile, cofounder Abhinav Lal has been named chief scientist. In the research-focused role, he will lead Practo’s exploration of AI applications in healthcare, build research partnerships, and develop an innovation hub focused on emerging technologies.

The leadership changes come as Practo steps up its international expansion and prepares for a proposed public listing. Earlier this year, the startup appointed former Union health secretary CK Mishra as an independent director as part of efforts to strengthen its board.
Inc42 previously reported that Practo was in advanced discussions to raise $100 Mn to $125 Mn in a pre-IPO funding round at a post-money valuation of around $700 Mn. The startup is reportedly targeting a public listing in 2027.

Practo claimed that it is currently growing at 40% YoY and has remained profitable for the past two-and-a-half years.

The startup turned EBITDA profitable in FY25, reporting an operating EBITDA of ₹15 Cr on revenue of ₹234 Cr. This marked a turnaround from FY24, when it posted an EBITDA loss of ₹17 Cr on revenue of ₹240 Cr.

Founded in 2008 by Shashank and Lal, Practo operates a digital healthcare platform that allows patients to find doctors, book appointments, consult physicians online, order medicines, and schedule diagnostic tests.

It also offers practice management software for doctors, clinics, and hospitals, and operates 40 co-branded dermatology clinics across India.

Its platform connects patients with more than 7 Lakh doctors and healthcare providers across over 2,400 cities globally. Practo also operates Insta, a hospital information management system used by more than 500 clients across over 1,200 facilities.

Besides India, Practo has expanded into the US and the UAE. It entered the UAE last year and launched a pilot in the US, where it claims to have onboarded more than 2 Lakh doctors and built an annual GMV run rate of over $75 Mn.

It has raised a total funding of about $230 Mn to date from investors like Peak XV Partners, Sofina, Thrive Capital, and Capital G.

The leadership reshuffle also comes months after Shashank launched preventive healthcare startup Cent alongside former Ola CMO Anshul Khandelwal and sales executive Arpit Garg. Cent raised $5 Mn in seed funding from OneFlow Holdings, Shashank’s family office, and South Park Commons.
