Pune-based deeptech company Aeron Systems has raised ₹45 Cr (about $4.7 Mn) in a pre-Series B funding round jointly led by Riverwalk Holdings and MGF-Kavachh (MountTech Growth Fund).
The company plans to use the fresh capital to expand its manufacturing capacity for advanced inertial navigation systems, accelerate R&D, meet growing customer demand, and strengthen its presence in international markets.
Founded in 2008 by Ashvani Shukla and Abhijeet Bokil, Aeron designs and manufactures inertial navigation and industrial IoT-based weather-monitoring systems for aerospace, defence, renewable energy, and other industrial applications.
Its navigation systems help aircraft, drones, missiles, military vehicles, and ships determine their position, direction, orientation, and movement, including in situations where satellite navigation signals are unavailable or disrupted. Its weather-monitoring systems collect environmental data for renewable energy, agriculture, and other industries.
Its product portfolio includes inertial navigation systems, air data computers, weather and environmental sensors, flight-test instrumentation, avionics, and resilient positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) technologies.
Aeron’s technologies are deployed across aircraft, helicopters, unmanned platforms, missiles, armoured vehicles, and naval platforms. It counts Hindustan Aeronautics, Bharat Electronics, DRDO, the Indian Army, and the Indian Navy among its customers.
The company claims to have deployed more than 10,000 inertial systems and over 2,500 weather stations globally. Its systems operate in environments ranging from high-altitude cold deserts to tropical regions, it said in a statement.
The funding comes amid growing demand for aerospace and defence technologies that can operate in increasingly complex and contested environments. Electronic warfare and disruption of satellite navigation signals have increased the need for navigation and sensing systems that can provide reliable data under demanding conditions.
Investor interest in the sector is also rising, with capital flowing into areas such as space-based intelligence, autonomous systems, avionics, and defence electronics.
For instance, Bengaluru-based spacetech startup Kepler Aerospace yesterday raised $8 Mn in a seed round led by Blue Ashva Capital to develop space-based intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities.
Meanwhile, aerospace startup Alteon raised $2.5 Mn in a pre-seed round led by Lachy Groom, with participation from Together Fund, to develop autonomous aircraft designed to remain airborne for months without landing.
India’s overall deeptech market is estimated to have been worth $9 Bn to $12 Bn in FY25 and is expected to grow to $27 Bn to $33 Bn by 2030, registering a CAGR of around 20%–30%, according to Redseer Strategy Consultants
