
A woman and a two-and-a-half-year-old child died, and six others were injured after a fire broke out on the 11th floor of a residential building in Mumbai’s Vile Parle (West), officials said on Wednesday (August 12, 2026).
The incident occurred on Tuesday night (August 11) around 10:02 p.m. at ‘Shanta Bhavan,’ a 12-storey building located on Baptista Road in Vile Parle, where two flats on the 11th floor caught fire.
According to officials, the fire spread through the electrical wiring, electrical installations, AC unit, household articles and the kitchen, which spans an area of 4,000 square feet.

The two deceased were identified as Ankita (23) and Abir (2.5), while the injured were identified as Parth (32), Hiren (64), Yashasvi (33), and Abishek.
Dr. Mugdha, CMO of Nanavati Hospital, said, “A total of six injured have been reported; two have been declared dead on arrival, and the remaining four are stable.”
