Questions during the interview for the position of the first full-time chief executive officer (CEO) of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust in Ayodhya revolved around the curriculum vitae submitted by the shortlisted candidates, with a focus on their previous experience in administration and temple management, two shortlisted candidates told The Hindu on condition of anonymity on Wednesday (August 12, 2026). The interview lasted about 30-40 minutes, they said.
Sixteen candidates have been shortlisted from a pool of over 5,200 applicants for the position of full-time CEO for the Trust amid allegations of donation theft. The interviews took place over two days, on August 11 and 12, 2026.
“I oversee the functioning of a temple after retirement. The interview panel asked questions about the management of that temple, footfall on major festivals, new technology used for the convenience of devotees, and queries related to my CV. The interview lasted for over 30 minutes,” a candidate interviewed on August 12, 2026 said.
Another candidate, who was a Level 14 (Additional Secretary) officer in government service said he was asked questions based on his CV and previous administrative experience. Among the first respondents during a security crisis while in service, he was asked questions related to the incident, he said. “My interview of 35-40 minutes centred on my previous administrative experience, which included crowd and crisis management,” he added.
The CEO’s primary responsibility, according to the notification, is to oversee the administration and management of the Ram Temple. Candidates have to be practising Hindus, and strictly follow Hindu traditions.
